Darden Executive Education Launches New Comprehensive Development Programs for High-Potential Leaders

Darden Executive Education has refreshed two of its most impactful comprehensive management development programs, offering newly relevant courses for both new and experienced managers.

Management Development Program: Leading in the Digital Age

Beginning 31 October, Management Development Program: Leading in the Digital Age replaces and builds upon the program previously named Management Development Program, expanding the scope of the course to feature a focus on digital transformation. Delivered via a blend of virtual modules and two weeklong, in-person sessions on Darden Grounds in Charlottesville and the Washington, D.C., area, the six-month program offers experienced managers an enterprise perspective, allowing them to make more informed, strategic decisions to drive organizational growth and transformation.

Taught by faculty of the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, the integrated learning experience has been engineered to create an immediate impact, allowing leaders to apply their new insights and capabilities to business development in real-time.

Through the program, participants will:

  • Develop deepened expertise in core functional areas such as accounting, finance, operations, strategy and marketing
  • Learn to manage the most complex challenges facing businesses today, including organizational shifts and digital disruption
  • Receive a personalized leadership assessment and mind-body wellness profile
  • Explore challenges and best practices with a cohort of high-preforming peers

Innovative Management in the Digital Age counts as two credits toward a Darden Certificate in Management.

DC Area Program Immerses New Leaders in Business Essentials

Beginning 10 October, Management Essentials for Developing Leaders is designed to prepare new or recently promoted managers for expanded functions within an organization.

Ideal for professionals living or working in the Washington, D.C., region, the new modular program will be delivered via five weekly sessions at the UVA Darden D.C. Metro facility in the Rosslyn district of Arlington, Virginia.

The high-velocity, immersive program offers managers a deep dive into the principles of organizational management, allowing learners to fully understand the interplay of the core components of business, including finance, marketing, operations, strategy and organizational leadership.

Learners will gain the ability to expand their perspective across organizational functions and develop the managerial acumen to support new department and corporate initiatives. Participants will also learn how to assess performance across their team and plan targeted improvement.

By the program’s conclusion, participants will fully understand the role of the effective manager, how to facilitate collaboration, and better understand and execute against organizational goals.

Management Essentials for Developing Leaders counts as one credit toward a Darden Certificate in Management. In addition to the Rosslyn-based program, Darden will offer a six-day program on Darden Grounds in Charlottesville, Virginia, in Spring 2020.
