Middle Eastern Executives Begin Darden Leadership Development Program

19 April 2012

On 22 April, Darden Executive Education will welcome 20 outstanding management executives from the Middle East for a 24-day Leadership Development Program (LDP), designed to enhance their leadership skills and potential.

For the third consecutive year, Darden is partnering with the Institute of Banking in Saudi Arabia and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance for this executive development program, which will run 22 April – 16 May. Participants include heads of compliance, directors of information and learning technology, acting CEOs and financial controllers.

The LDP faculty team, led by Darden Professors Sherwood Frey and Bob Conroy, has created an impactful program of action-oriented learning experiences and participant-centered classroom discussions. The program begins with understanding the big picture of business as an integrated system. The case study method allows participants to explore actual business problems and solutions that will lead them to develop new ways of thinking about their challenges. Through assessments and coaching, participants gain a better understanding of who they are as leaders and identify areas for improvement. Participants will focus on creating plans for personal and organization development. Learning team and class discussions offer opportunities to practice influencing others, explore differing viewpoints and stretch strategic thinking.

The benefits of attending include increased effectiveness as a result of examining personal leadership practices; broadened business perspectives and improved decision-making; and the improved capability to think and act more strategically. A follow-up assessment and post-program coaching are provided to continue the learning and self-improvement after the program. Past participants who completed a follow-up assessment saw significant and positive results in most leadership skills that were measured.

Recent participants in the custom LDP II program said:

“The design of the program in terms of its approach, teaching methodology, content and delivery was exceptional. The Leadership Development Program added true value for all participants, and we are confident that what we learned was indeed life-changing! The program will definitely contribute to the growth and prosperity of our respective organizations.”
