UVA Darden Professor Laura Morgan Roberts Ranked as Top Global Thinker

Darden Professor Laura Morgan Roberts has been named to the Thinkers50 list for 2023.

The organization, which calls the list the pre-eminent global ranking of management and business thinkers, cites Roberts’ extensive research and consulting efforts focused on the science of maximizing human potential in diverse organizations and communities.

The global ranking of Top 50 Thinkers is not Roberts’ first accolade from the group. In 2021, she was named to the organization’s Radar list, which spotlights management thinkers likely to make an impact in the year ahead. She was also subsequently shortlisted for the Top 50 Thinkers list of 2021, and was included in the top 10  for the group’s Talent Award, which recognizes scholars working in the field of human talent and workforce issues.

Roberts’s research interests and scholarship are wide-ranging, and she has written extensively about how organizations can help their employees, especially those from diverse backgrounds, flourish at work.

The Frank M. Sands Associate Professor of Business Administration at Darden, Roberts came to the School in 2019 following teaching stints at Harvard Business School, Antioch University and Georgetown University.

Roberts teaches Executive and Part-time MBA courses in the Leadership and Organizational Behavior area at Darden as well as Executive Education & Lifelong Learning programs. Her current courses include “Leading Organizations,” “Leading Change,” and “Leadership, Diversity and Leveraging Difference.”

Roberts, who has published more than 50 academic articles and has been widely cited in popular media, is the editor of three books, the most recent of which, Race, Work and Leadership: New Perspectives on the Black Experience (Harvard Business Publishing), was published in 2019.
