UVA, Darden Plan Upcoming Graduation Celebrations for Classes of 2020, 2021

The University of Virginia Darden School of Business plans to celebrate the MBA classes of 2020 and 2021 in a series of upcoming graduation events.

Leadership and Service Awards for the Full-Time MBA Class of 2021

On 7 May, Darden will host a student awards event for full-time MBA students. The event will include a welcome from Dean Scott Beardsley, the presentation of student awards honoring leadership and service, and short addresses from elected student speaker James Patterson, outgoing Darden Student Association President Megan McGee, and faculty marshals Tom Steenburgh and Lalin Anik.

Executive MBA awards for service, leadership and academic excellence will be bestowed and honored during graduation weekend and during an additional celebration weekend this fall.

UVA Final Exercises for Class of 2020

On 16 May, UVA will host a graduation event for the Class of 2020 at Scott Stadium. UVA President Jim Ryan will address the graduates, who were unable to participate in an in-person event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All graduates are required to have a ticket to enter Scott Stadium. Each graduate may also reserve tickets for up to two guests. The deadline to claim tickets is Sunday, 2 May. For guests unable to attend, the ceremony will be livestreamed.

Darden is also planning a special in-person celebration for the Class of 2020 during Reunion Weekend 2022.

UVA Final Exercises for Class of 2021

On 23 May, UVA will host Final Exercises for the Class of 2021, including students from Darden , the UVA School of Law and the McIntire School of Commerce. Prior to the ceremony graduates will process down the Lawn from the Rotunda to Scott Stadium. The event will include an address from Ryan and conferral of degrees by school deans, including Beardsley. During the 23 May Final Exercises event, Darden will confer MBA degrees to 333 graduates who completed the School’s full-time MBA program and 134 graduates who completed the Executive MBA program. All graduates are required to have a ticket to enter Scott Stadium. Each graduate may also reserve a ticket for up to two guests. The deadline to claim tickets is Sunday, 2 May.
