The University of Virginia Darden School of Business showed positive momentum in the Financial Times’ annual global MBA ranking.

Darden is ranked the No. 11 MBA program in the world in the new rankings and No. 6 in the United States. Both figures represent new highs in the ranking for the School’s MBA program.

Darden performed well in a variety of metrics related to career outcomes, including:

  • 4 in the world in the category of aims achieved (which Financial Times defines as the extent to which alumni fulfilled their stated goals or reasons for doing an MBA)
  • 7 for highest salary
  • 9 for percentage salary increase

Recent data from the Darden Career Center shows Class of 2020 graduates reported the highest average starting salary in School history.

Financial Times noted that some schools opted to suspend participation in the rankings due to ongoing complications related to the coronavirus pandemic.

As part of its MBA ranking coverage, Financial Times noted Darden-related activity in other arenas, as well. Professor Mary Gentile and her Giving Voice to Values curriculum were cited in an article on the rise of the importance of empathy and emotional intelligence, and Executive Director of Admissions Dawna Clarke was quoted on the importance of authenticity in the Admissions process.

In early February, Financial Times noted Darden’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.
