UVA Darden Announces Faculty Promotions

Following approval from the University of Virginia Board of Visitors, the University of Virginia Darden School of Business has announced a number of faculty promotions and new chair appointments.

Several of the faculty chairs were awarded after being endowed through generous donations made in support of Darden’s Powered by Purpose campaign, a part of the UVA Honor the Future capital campaign. Donors to the School have funded the creation of 28 new endowed faculty chairs since the start of the campaign.

The promotions and new chairs include:

  • Professor Yiorgos Allayannis as the Robert F. Bruner Distinguished Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Manel Baucells as the David M. LaCross Associate Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Alan Beckenstein as the Robert D. Landel Distinguished Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Peter Belmi promoted to associate professor of business administration without term (tenured) and named as the Scott C. Beardsley Associate Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Robert Carraway as the Yiorgos Allayannis Distinguished Associate Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Raul Chao as the Oliver Wight Associate Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Luca Cian promoted to associate professor of business administration without term (tenured) and named as the Killgallon Ohio Art Associate Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Greg Fairchild promoted to professor of business administration and will continue as Isidore Horween Research Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Mary Gentile as the Richard M. Waitzer Bicentennial Professor of Ethics
  • Professor Kinda Hachem as Morris Plan Associate Professor of Consumer Credit
  • Professor Justin Hopkins as the J. Harvie Wilkinson Jr.  Associate Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Sean Martin promoted to associate professor of business administration without term (tenured) and named as the Donald and Lauren Morel Associate Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Daniel Murphy as the Jung Family Associate Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Lili Powell as the Julie Logan Sands Associate Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor Melissa Thomas-Hunt appointed as Professor of Business Administration and as the John D. Forbes Distinguished Professor of Business Administration
  • Professor June West as the Marjorie R. Sands Associate Professor of Business Administration

In May, Professor Bobby Parmar received the 2021 UVA Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award.
