UVA Darden School Welcomes Four new Faculty Members

The University of Virginia Darden School of Business continues to add to its ranks of top-rated faculty, welcoming four new professors in the fields of marketing, quantitative analysis, and leadership and organizational behavior.

Lalin Anik has joined the Darden Marketing faculty as an assistant professor. Anik, who will teach the core marketing course in the residential format of the MBA program, focuses on the impact of social connections on consumer behavior. Widely published in academic journals and frequently cited in the popular press, Anik holds a doctorate of business administration in marketing from Harvard Business School.
She previously taught at Harvard Business School, Duke University and Brandeis University.

Manel Baucells has joined Darden as an associate professor of Quantitative Analysis. Baucells, who will teach courses in both the MBA and Executive Education programs, has taught throughout the world and held visiting research positions at Duke University, UCLA, London Business School, MIT and Erasmus University. Baucells previously held positions at the Rand Corporation, the University of Pompeu Fabra and IESE Business School and holds a Ph.D. from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA.
His research focuses on incorporating psychological realism into consumer behavior models.

Peter Belmi has joined Darden as an assistant professor of Leadership and Organizational Behavior. Belmi’s research interests focus on inequality and its causes, consequences and persistence. His work has been published in multiple academic journals and featured in a variety of media outlets. He teaches the doctoral course “The Social Psychology of Organization” in Leadership and Organizational Behavior and the MBA elective “The Paths to Power.”
Belmi holds a Ph.D. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Luca Cian has joined Darden as an assistant professor of Marketing. Cian, who teaches the First Year marketing course in the residential format of the MBA program, is an expert in the area of consumer behavior, with a focus on sensory marketing and social cognition. His work has been published in leading academic journals and featured in multiple media outlets.
Cian holds a Ph.D. from the University of Verona in Italy and was a postdoctoral scholar in marketing at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
