Arnold Evans, Managing Director of SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, Appointed to Darden School Foundation Board of Trustees

20 June 2013

The University of Virginia Darden School of Business and the Darden School Foundation today announced the election of a new trustee, Arnold B. Evans (MBA/JD ’97), who will serve a three-year term, effective immediately.

“We look forward to having Arnold as a trustee,” said Phil Knisely, chair of the Darden School Foundation Board of Trustees. “His management and leadership experience in the military services and in the private sector, as well as his service on the Dean’s Diversity Advisory Council, have demonstrated his ability to bring many insights and a powerful impact to the board.”

Arnold Evans is managing director at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from the United States Military Academy (West Point) in May 1988 and, upon graduation, served in the United States Army Air Defense Artillery until 1993. As a captain, he held many leadership and planning positions of increasing responsibility in the United States, Europe and Saudi Arabia. Evans led between 39 and 150 soldiers in a broad range of training, logistics and operational missions. After leaving the Army, he received a dual degree from the University of Virginia: an MBA from Darden and a Juris Doctorate from the School of Law in 1997. Upon receiving his J.D., Evans went to work for JP Morgan’s Financial Institutions Group in New York. He later moved to the Equity Capital Markets group and was promoted to vice president. In 2005, Evans moved from JP Morgan to re-energize the Equity Capital Markets group at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in Atlanta, Georgia. He is currently a managing director in that group.

“Arnold is a wonderful addition to the Darden School Foundation Board of Trustees,” said Bob Bruner, dean of the Darden School of Business and Charles C. Abbott Professor of Business Administration. “Darden has a history of focusing and attending to students and Executive Education participants who have previously or currently serve in the military. It will be invaluable to draw from his experience, as we continue to build on this resource. We look forward to benefiting from Arnold’s service to Darden as a trustee, in addition to his efforts on behalf of our diversity board.”

Evans serves as a trustee, treasurer and head of the Finance Committee for Riverside Military Academy, and as a member of the Board of Trustees for Fernbank Museum of Natural History. He is also a former Alumni Council Member for the University of Virginia School of Law and a former U.S. Chairman for the British-American Project. He is a member of the New York Bar Association.
