Trip Davis to Transition From Role at UVA Darden School

22 April 2013

Trip Davis will transition from his duties as president of the University of Virginia Darden School Foundation and senior associate dean for external relations, a position he has held since February 2011.

Davis has accepted a new role as executive director of Dartmouth College’s new Office of Entrepreneurship & Technology Transfer in the provost division. Davis is a 1994 graduate of the Darden School and a 1990 graduate of Dartmouth College. He will move to Dartmouth in June to take on his new role.

“Trip is returning to his undergraduate alma mater,” said Darden Dean Bob Bruner. “We have appreciated his energy and enthusiasm and are grateful for his service to his MBA alma mater, the Darden School.”

“This transition in leadership occurs at a moment when the Foundation and School are performing at a very high level,” said Bruner. “Trip’s effective leadership has contributed to the many strengths of the school, and we wish him well in the next chapter of his career.”

Davis has led the Darden School’s external relations activities and overseen core functions of the Darden School Foundation, including Advancement, Alumni Services, Communication and Marketing, Darden Executive Education and Hospitality.

Bruner said there would be a search for a replacement, and plans will be announced in early May.

“The Darden School Foundation Board of Trustees is working closely with Dean Bruner on the transition plan,” said Phil Knisely, the board’s chair. “We will communicate the plans in early May after the regularly scheduled board meeting at the end of this week.”

Davis is a seasoned entrepreneur, who founded two technology travel companies — TRX and Green Room — before joining the University of Virginia, first as a co-faculty director at McIntire’s Galant Center for Leadership and then in his present role at Darden.

“I was proud to be part of building the entrepreneurship curriculum at McIntire, and I am extremely proud of the work we have carried out over the past two years at Darden to accelerate the School’s strong momentum and raise the game in external relations,” said Davis. “The true pleasure has been the opportunity to work with such a dedicated and talented team in a culture that’s committed to excellence.”

“Trip is a valued member of the UVA and Darden communities, and we wish him a bright future,” said Bruner.
