UVA Darden School Climbs in U.S. News & World Report Ranking Share

12 March 2013

The University of Virginia Darden School of Business climbed one place to No. 12 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2014 edition of “Best Grad Schools,” which released its annual ranking of business schools this morning.

This year, U.S. News & World Report surveyed the 448 business schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The ranking combines statistical data and expert assessment data. The survey weighs peer assessment by business school deans and directors, recruiter assessment by corporate recruiters and company contacts, placement success and student selectivity. The business school ranking considers admissions and recruiting data from the Class of 2012.

The specialty rankings are based only on ratings by business school deans and MBA program heads. In the category of Management, Darden moved up two places to No. 4. Darden’s entrepreneurship program, led by Darden’s Batten Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, climbed two places to No. 12 in the category of Entrepreneurship.

In the Executive MBA category, the Darden MBA for Executives held steady at No. 12.

“We are pleased by Darden’s rise in the U.S. News ranking and are gratified by our continued improvement in key categories,” said Darden’s Dean Bob Bruner. “For prospective students of U.S. MBA programs, rankings are one way to narrow your focus in selecting a school. I always encourage prospective students to learn firsthand about the schools and their environments. Get on the ground; kick the tires; look at schools from all angles; gauge the culture. Find the school that’s right for you.”
